The region near Baugnez-Malmedy

Baugnez is just a short drive from Malmedy

The location of the gite, away from the main road and in the midst of a landscape of forests and fields, provides the best conditions for guests who want to recharge their batteries. In addition to the possibilities offered by the accommodation, guests will find a variety of activities in the immediate vicinity and can get there quickly and worry-free with their own vehicle.

Walks and hikes, bicycle trips in the forest or in the village, as well as the possibility of practising certain winter sports in the direct vicinity of the gite, complete the offering.

Points of interest

Malmedy

In addition to a vast and diversified offer in the culinary field (chip shops, cafes, bars and restaurants), this place offers many leisure activities, such as tennis, squash, bowling, an outdoor swimming pool, a playground for children and mini golf. An interesting and varied cultural program including concerts (in the open air), museums and exhibitions usually takes place throughout the year.

Stavelot

Like Spa, the town of Stavelot is inextricably linked to the history of the Spa Francorchamps racing circuit. It is not without reason that Stavelot Abbey houses the Circuit Museum. This former abbey has been completely restored and transformed into a modern museum offering numerous possibilities in terms of staging events. In addition to permanent exhibitions retracing the history of the region and the abbey, one-off exhibitions are regularly put on there. Culturally, the historic small town of Stavelot is best known for the carnival procession of Laetare and its White Moussis, which takes place on the weekend of mid-Lent.

The Robertville and Bütgenbach dam lakes

The Robertville and Bütgenbach dam lakes are only a few kilometres away. In good weather, they both offer a supervised beach and pedal boat rentals, not to mention the possibility of sailing. This is only offered in Bütgenbach! Here, you will also find the Worriken Leisure Centre. It is possible to go around this lake on foot (a distance of about 10 km).

Francorchamps

The Formula 1 circuit does not really require a detailed description as it is already so well-known! In addition to the Formula 1 circus, which stops there once a year, a large number of motorsport events are organised there almost every weekend; we can mention the 24-hour race, the Porsche Days, the Bikers’ Classics, Spa Italia, etc. It is possible to participate in guided tours and explore the track outside of these major events.

Les Hautes Fagnes

Les Hautes Fagnes - or High Fens - constitute an excursion not to be missed for those who visit the region. This high peat bog landscape exerts a special charm. The ideal starting point is the centre of the natural park located in Botrange, namely the house of the Hautes Fagnes Eifel natural park.

RAVeL tracks

Cycle paths on old railway lines or towpaths, called "RAVeL", are increasingly popular, especially in areas with hilly terrain, such as in the Eastern Cantons. The advantages are obvious: where you would only expect difficult climbs and descents, the old railway lines, transformed into cycle paths, come as a pleasant surprise. They take you under the hills through the tunnels and allow you to discover the valleys from viaducts. All this will not cost you a single drop of sweat as the slopes are negligible (less than 3%). This is, essentially, what characterises the charm of the RAVeLs, especially since they wend their way far from any road traffic and most often cross formidable natural landscapes, passing very close to interesting sights and café terraces that invite you to pause for a moment.
